Privacy Policy

This is a plain-language description of what data ApplyAnyway touches and what it never touches. The short version: the app is local-first, and the most personal things — your CV, your searches, your application history — never leave your computer.

Who is responsible

The data controller is ApplyAnyway (sole proprietor) — the formal legal entity will be named here before commercial launch. For anything privacy-related, write to support@applyanyway.app. Governing law: Portugal.

What stays on your device

ApplyAnyway is a desktop app. Fetching, analysis, the database and the interface all run on your machine. The following data is stored locally only and is never sent to our servers:

  • vacancy data the app fetches for you;
  • your CV and the profile extracted from it;
  • search queries, sources and watchlist;
  • notes, application history and everything in the built-in CRM.

We cannot see, sell or leak this data because it never reaches us.

What the cloud stores

Our cloud services store only what accounts and billing strictly need:

  • your email address and authentication identity (magic-link login or Google sign-in);
  • your prepaid balance and payment events (payments themselves are processed by payment providers — we never see card numbers);
  • usage counters (for example, which days the app fetched, and internal AI-quota accounting).

Nothing about your search is stored in the cloud: not your CV, not your profile, not your queries, not which vacancies you kept or dismissed. When a hosted-AI request passes through our proxy, its content is processed and not retained. This is separate from the open company and vacancy data described below, which carries no link to you.

Open data about companies and vacancies

Separately from everything above, the app records open data about the job market: companies (domain, careers page, applicant tracking system) and vacancies (working conditions, requirements, salary ranges). This is not your data and not a contribution of yours — it is public information that employers publish themselves, and the app simply notes what it saw on public job boards.

  • no data about you is sent at all — no account, no identifier, no device id, and nothing about what you did with a vacancy;
  • the receiving server does not log and does not store IP addresses;
  • we keep parameters, not texts: position, seniority, location, work format, salary range, requirements and stack;
  • the raw text of a description is used only to compute those parameters and is deleted 90 days after it arrives.

This is what the market analytics inside the app are built on. We sell nothing to recruiters or employers — not this data, not access to it.

AI modes

If you choose the hosted AI mode («Built-in AI»), the text of vacancies and your profile summary are routed through our proxy to Anthropic, the AI provider, under their commercial terms — Anthropic does not train models on this API data. We pass the text through to get you an answer; we do not build profiles from it.

If you bring your own API key or run a local model, that traffic goes directly from your machine to your provider (or nowhere at all) — it does not pass through our servers. The no-AI mode sends nothing anywhere.

Cookies and this website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The only thing it keeps in your browser is your language preference (EN/RU) in localStorage. If you join the waitlist, we store the email you enter and use it to send one launch announcement; ask us to delete it at any time.

Telegram notifications

Telegram notifications are optional and configured by you, with your own bot settings. When enabled, the notification text you configured is delivered through Telegram's infrastructure under Telegram's own terms.

Deletion and your rights

To delete your account and the cloud data listed above, or to ask what we store about you, email support@applyanyway.app. Local data is yours — deleting the app (or its data folder) removes it. We answer GDPR-style requests (access, correction, deletion, export) at the same address.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update this page and the date on it, and notify registered users by email for significant changes.

This is a plain-language default policy; formal legal review is pending. It reflects how the product actually works — no hidden clauses.
